Grouse Hunting Scenes

I know it is January and the snow is deep but how about a quick visit back to October? While I was at Libby Camps last fall they had a videographer working on clips about the fall grouse and woodcock hunting. The results are now posted to the Libby Camps web page.

Fall always goes to the dogs

Fall and specifically October is the season I work with the dogs. They enjoy the work and even when tired are eager to get back into their boxes and head out each morning. When we are at Libby Camps they spend the night in the boxes as well. But for them the best part is working every day.

Day off!

I had today off after a stretch of guiding at Libby Camps up north, fishing trips locally and a couple days of meetings. Meetings will be a big part of my life now that I have started as the executive Director for the Maine Professional Guides Association but that is another story.

October in the North Woods

I spent the week guiding grouse and woodcock hunters at Libby Camps in the North Maine Woods. It is always a joy to work with other professionals delivering a great experience. There is nothing like visiting a sporting camp in Northern Maine. First the vastness of the country is always impressive, as is the almost complete silence when you are out in the woods. Meals are always an event and it is a hard job to not eat way more than I should. Not to mention desserts that are usually fresh baked and delicious.

Flying Adventure

During my time at Libby Camps both Matt Libby and I had a meeting of the task force on the deer herd in northern and eastern Maine to attend. We were able to schedule the meeting on a day when we were both off from guiding and were could travel together. Matt needed to take one of his floatplanes to the sea plan base near Bangor where the meeting was being held and was kind enough to offer to fly us down. A return ride to northern Maine was arranged.
