I drove home from Bangor yesterday in a snow turning to sleet / freezing rain then rain event; not that unusual. What you do notice is the lack of snow on the ground this morning and an air temperature of 49 
degrees F. Again not that unusual for somewhere far to our south but early February in Maine, quite remarkable.
I have two things that I am wondering about and perhaps you can help. First as I mentioned earlier Maine Outdoors is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. I am trying to come up with a good way to 
celebrate. Perhaps an event? Cookout? Kids fishing event? Fundraiser for a local charity; perhaps the local land trust or the Maine Guides Education Fund (the guide’s association charitable arm)?
After a very warm fall and early winter it felt like winter might never come. Over the last twenty four hours things changed. Six inches of new snow overnight and steadily falling temperatures today (down to 18 at
4PM) with plenty of Northwest wind to make sure we feel the chill.
