Tuesday was the first day of fall I do not care what the calendar says. A stiff northwest wind made it hard to keep the boat positioned, the trees and fields have taken on that amber glow and (this one is personal) the light changes it’s angle and it makes it harder for me to see the fish that missed your lure. I know the last one is not a crisis for anyone but me.
I will also note that some of the maples have turned a bright red that really stands out among the surrounding greenery and the crystal blue sky. Water temperatures have begun to fall, a trend that will accelerate over the coming month. No frost yet but the far north is expecting it this week. Our daytime temperatures are still around 70 making for perfect crisp fall days where you need a jacket when we start but have forgotten all about it by mid-day.
As you might expect the number of scenic boat trips picks up as the leaves turn and the weather cools. Still plenty of openings in my schedule but this perfect weather will not last forever.
