Wild Weather Weekend
Memorial Day weekend marks the start of summer for many folks in the United States, here in Maine it marks the beginning of our summer season. Like most years I was scheduled to fish with a couple of families over the weekend. Mother nature had other plans. Saturday was a complete washout it rained hard most of the day and was cold and damp. Sunday afternoon as the weather was predicted to break; no such luck. After an hour or so it was clear that everyone was cold and wet, the fish were not going to cooperate and that the river was four or five feet higher than it had been all spring.

This morning it was raining quite hard with a brisk Northeast wind not much of a day to spend on the water. Still I needed to check on the eagles I have promised for
This spring sure has come on quickly, it always does but I have been so busy that I think it snuck up on me. I fished last evening on Alford Lake over in Hope and the shad bush or service berry is in full bloom. A non-descript shrub of about 15 feet it really stands out right now with it’s bright white flowers along the shore of the ponds.
