A change in the weather for sure!

The air changed this weekend. Saturday morning we were greeted with heavy showers as the first cold front of the season plowed away the moist summer air. By noon the skies had cleared and there was a sharp northwest breeze. This dry air is marked by very blue skies dotted with white puffy clouds, what I refer to as Chamber of Commerce weather, perfect for any outdoor activity. Luckily I had the day off and did not have to dodge the morning lightning or find places out of the wind in the afternoon.

Weather Eye

When you are outdoors every day like I am the weather impacts what you do every day. Friday I was guiding a striper fisherman in the Lower Saint George and as we returned to the harbor at the end of his trip I commented that I did not like the look of the sky. At that moment there was mostly blue sky with a few white puffy clouds in the northern sky. He responded that he saw no reason for me not to take my canoe trip that afternoon.

Summer in an instant

Today is a summer day that is for sure, the humidity is hanging in the air holding down the visibility and the temperature is in the low 90’s. Quite a change from last week when I was wondering if I should put in some more firewood to carry us through until summer arrived. If you don’t like the weather in New England just wait a minute.
