Guides Day Off

September Largemough Bass

Well actually afternoon, but I digress. I had shortened my striper fishing trip in the morning because it was simply too rough to be much fun and the fish were uncooperative. As a result I was home at noon and free for the afternoon. I called Argy and arranged to meet at Ayer Park in Union. We loaded into the Lund for a quiet afternoon. Her in the stern in her beach chair reading and napping and me just fishing, not worrying about where to try next or keeping the trip moving for someone else.

All I can say is that the September fishing is very much underway, wow. My first cast had barely touched the water and I had a two pound bass on. It was steady for the next four hours. Largemouth bass like the one in the picture, smallmouth bass and a few pickerel. Not quite pickerel panic time yet but it will be here soon. A delightful afternoon out!

I am looking forward to more of the same with clients in the next six weeks. Best weather of the year and great fishing.
