NEW THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Railroads, rivers and recreation with the Maine Eastern Railroad.
Thomaston and Rockland as the destination
Imagine motoring along a secluded shore ospreys hover overhead, seeking stripers while seals bob nearby, or drifting silently under the railroad trestle you just passed over. With one of our more unique packages, you can fill your desire to ride a train and enjoy nature in all of its glory. There are many places to fish and boat, and Maine Eastern Railroad has partnered with Master Maine Guide Don Kleiner, and Maine Outdoors. This is the perfect excursion for bird watchers and nature lovers, or for someone who can’t wait to wet a line no matter where they are. Start your trip from Brunswick, Bath or Wiscasset. Your train ride will stop short of the Rockland passenger station in Thomaston, right next to the St. George River, at about 12:15. There Don will greet you as you step off the train. From there you will go directly to the harbor for a two-hour boat ride aboard Don’s 20 foot open fishing boat, where you can fish, do some nature watching, or just lay back and take a snooze. From the river, you may even get the chance to see the famous Olsen House and Andrew Wyeth’s summer home. After your boat ride, Don will drive you into Rockland where you will spend the rest of your time, until you board the train at the Rockland station at 3:55PM.
NOTE: ALL FISHING ACTIVITY ON THIS EXCURSION IS STRICTLY CATCH & RELEASE. Maine Outdoors will supply all the *equipment you need; lifejackets, fishing rods, lures and even raincoats if needed. Be sure to bring along a jacket, hat and a smile! Lunch is not included in this excursion, but you are welcome to purchase a sandwich and beverage on the train on your way to Thomaston.
Minimum 7 Day advance reservation. All participants must be 16 years of age or older.

No longer a secret, Maine is nationally known for bass fishing. Fish for smallmouths in secluded ponds with rocky shorelines. These aggressive fish are acrobatic and tireless. Largemouths lurk in weedy ponds and along lazy stretches of our rivers. Pick your passion bass can be taken with light spinning gear or flies.
