bass fishing

August already?

The usual summer pace has been here for more than a month. Only a few days or parts of days off but before I know it the goldenrod will be in full bloom and the first red maple leaf will show up on the shore of one of the ponds. Signaling the end of the summer season and the transition to fall for me. I have enjoyed the variety of trips this summer that is for sure. Not only different trips with new clients but some have asked to visit places I do not normally visit.

Early summer bass fishing

I spent the last few days fishing bass fishing on freshwater. The last two with a couple of repeat clients who are not only good fisherman but great fun to be around. The fishing was better than I can remember for the post spawn time period in June. Over the two days they caught a bunch of nice fish like this largemouth bass.

November Fishing

Yesterday I guided a couple of fisherman from Texas. I decided to try Megunticook because of the recent stockings of rainbow trout and the fact that it would be less affected by the recent rains and high water. We started around 11:30 and launched at Bog Brook with no problem plenty of water for the 20’ Lund.

Circle Hooks for Perch

I have been reading for some time about how much better circle hooks are for fishing bait for large fish like stripers. So when I last went to buy hooks to use on my family fishing trips I saw a package of circle hooks in a size that were well suited to the perch and sunfish that I catch. I thought that I would give the new hooks a try.
