You just never know!
What will happen next. I was on my way to Augusta for a meeting at the fish and wildlife department. I always go the back way out past Sweetgrass Winery and down over the Medomak River. I came to a stop at the bottom of the hill and could see what looked like a pile of feathers in the road. A car coming the other way stopped quickly and backed up to the pile. Easing forward I could see now that it was a woodcock.

The forecast this morning called for scattered showers with the chance of a thundershower. I have had today’s reservation for some time and the
day could not be changed. So off we went!
I always go on about how great it is to fish with kids and last evening was the proof for me. I met my now grown son Noah at the boat launch after he got out of work. We chose Megunticook Lake in Camden because it is nearby for him and I like to fish there. We spent a couple of hours casting flies for rainbow trout in a quiet cove. The fish were cooperative enough to keep our interest, including one that broke off my fly.
